The agony of a writer

An artist and a writer will concur....what they do for a living can be either a blessing or a curse. We who must create, whether using words or paint or clay know that we do not choose our vocation...but that it is a calling, a quest...a need to do so. Often times our efforts are overlooked or unappreciated, but yet we surge forward in our desire to create with the hopes that our efforts will be embraced.

Fellow authors...how long do you generally wait to follow up with an editor-in-chief after you send a query letter out? Do you feel that the age of journalism (specifically freelance) is coming to an end?

To date, I have been shopping around an article on the ancho chili pepper as well as a children's story about a princess and her talking cat. If you have any questions or would like to inquire on these projects...please feel free to contact me. I'd be more than happy to discuss them.
